2002
The start of Hillewaere Real Estate
In 2002, CEO Roel Druyts laid the foundations for Hillewaere Real Estate. Building on strong local roots, our property business has grown, with quality, entrepreneurship and marketing at its core right from the start.
2007
A first significant increase in scale
The merger with the property division of P. Heeren represents a significant step in the growth of Hillewaere Real Estate and strengthens our position in the "Antwerpse Kempen". For the first time, we are also adding insurance services to our range of services.
2010
From local office to a property network
Hillewaere Real Estate continues to expand into a network of several offices, which we consistently position as genuine real estate offices in regions such as Schilde, Brasschaat, Ghent, Hasselt, Keerbergen, Koningslo, Bree, Hoogstraten and others. By increasing our scale, we are also broadening our expertise across the various segments of the property market.
2017
Opening of our new head office in Turnhout
In December 2017, we will be moving into our new head office in a festive ceremony, in the iconic and fully renovated building on Parklaan in Turnhout.
2021
Rotschild & Co as a private equity partner
The London-based investment bank Rothschild & Co is acquiring a majority stake in the Hillewaere Group through Five Arrows Private Investment. This will enable us, as an organisation, to achieve further expansion and to professionalise even more rapidly, particularly in terms of cutting-edge technology.
2023
Hillewaere Real Estate becomes the exclusive licensee of Christie's International Real Estate
June 2023 will mark another key milestone in our story. As the exclusive Belgian licensee of Christie’s International Real Estate, our expertise in luxury property will be given an international platform and a global reach.
2024
Christie's International Real Estate Belgium opens in Brussels
Following the co-branding of all our Hillewaere estate agencies across all regions of Flanders, exactly one year later, in June 2024, we will open our first Christie’s city-centre real estate office on Avenue Louise in the capital, Brussels. We will be moving into this stately building alongside our colleagues from the renowned Christie’s auction house and taking our first steps into the French-speaking market.
2024
Christie's International Real Estate Belgium opens in Antwerp
In October of that same year, the city of Antwerp must not be left off the list either. We are opening our Christie’s real estate office in the city centre on the Frankrijklei.
2025
Further expansion into Wallonia
In June 2025, we will be taking further steps across the language border thanks to a successful acquisition in Waterloo. We are continuing to expand our operations into Wallonia.

Opening in Knokke in collaboration with Liv’Immo
From November 2025, our partnership with Liv'Immo in Knokke will begin, and we will also be representing the Christie's International Real Estate brand in the Knokke luxury property market. This collaboration combines in-depth knowledge of the local market with our national and international reach.

Today, at Hillewaere Real Estate, we are continuing to build on the same foundations on which our story began: local expertise and personalised service, underpinned by professional marketing, a wide-reaching network and international connections.
